Pollen is the sperm of flowers, their male molecule. They are tiny seeds\nthat the bee collects as it sinks and rubs into the flowers and the seeds\nare hooked onto its hair. Thanks to the brushes and combs on her hind\nlegs, she collects these seeds and then with a mixture of saliva with\nhoney (which she has taken care to get close to the brood of the hive,\nbecause at this point it contains most of the lactose), she prepares small\nballs which she places to transport them to the canisters, two pockets on\nher hind legs.<\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\t

Pollen is the only source of protein for the bee and is essential for the\ngrowth and proper functioning of its hypopharyngeal glands, which are\nresponsible for the production of royal jelly. Thus, without pollen, the\nqueen lays her eggs, as well as the breeding of larvae becomes\nimpossible. A bee colony consumes 35 to 40 kilos of pollen per year for\nbrood rearing.<\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n
